Are there other types of influenza viruses besides A and B?

There are 4 types of seasonal flu viruses: A, B, C, and D. Human influenza A and B viruses cause seasonal flu epidemics almost every winter in the United States. Influenza type C generally causes mild illness and is not thought to cause human flu epidemics. Influenza D affects cattle and is not known to infect or cause illness in humans.
