Who should get a booster dose?
It is recommended that all individuals ages 6 months and older receive an updated (bivalent) vaccine and stay up to date with updated (bivalent) booster dose(s). This includes individuals who have received all primary series doses, and those who have received one or more original (monovalent) boosters.
- Children aged 6 months - 5 years may receive a bivalent Moderna booster 2 months after their final Moderna primary series dose
- Children aged 6 months - 4 years will receive a bivalent Pfizer booster after receiving their final Pfizer primary series dose
- Individuals aged 5 - 6 may receive the updated Pfizer booster
- Individuals aged 6 years and older may receive an updated (bivalent) booster by Pfizer or Moderna
The Novovax vaccine is not authorized as a booster. Individuals who received their primary series with the Novovax vaccine may receive the updated (bivalent) booster by Pfizer or Moderna.
