Do I need to get the booster shot if I have antibodies?
Vaccinations and boosters are still recommended regardless of antibody status.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends booster shots for everyone age 18 and up, but the timing depends on which vaccination you originally received. If you received the:
- Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen vaccination, a booster dose is recommended at least two months after the single dose shot.
- Pfizer-BioNTech vaccination, a booster dose is recommended at least five months after your original series was completed.
- Moderna vaccination, a booster dose is recommended at least six months after your original series was completed.
Talk to your healthcare provider for additional guidance on how to interpret your test results and when to get a booster.
