It’s been several weeks since my previous COVID-19 test, and I no longer have symptoms. Why am I still testing positive for COVID-19?
People who have recovered from COVID-19 may have detectable amounts of the virus in their nasal swab or saliva samples for up to three months after the start of infection, even though they may not be able to spread the virus during that time. Research indicates that people who had mild-to-moderate COVID-19 are no longer infectious 10 days after symptoms start. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that all people, whether or not they’ve had COVID-19, continue to take safety measures to avoid becoming infected or spreading COVID-19.
