Should I get an antibody test to check if I’m immune before or after a COVID-19 vaccination?

At this time there is no recommendation to get an antibody test to check your immune status before or after a COVID-19 vaccination. As your body develops an immune response from the vaccine, you may test positive on some antibody tests. Antibody tests indicate you may have been previously exposed to the virus. Experts are currently looking at how COVID-19 vaccination may affect antibody testing results. Antibody testing is not currently used to assess immunity to COVID-19 following vaccination or to assess the need for vaccination in an unvaccinated person. You should complete the vaccination series regardless of your antibody test results.
