I got COVID-19 after getting vaccinated. How is that possible?
You cannot get COVID-19 from the vaccine because it does not contain the live virus that causes a COVID-19 infection. However, it’s possible to become infected with the virus that causes COVID-19 even after vaccination. This can be due to the timing of the vaccination and infection. It typically takes a few weeks for the body to produce antibodies. So it’s possible that a person could be infected with COVID-19 just before or just after vaccination, and then get sick because the vaccine did not have enough time to provide protection. It is important to note that some side effects you may have after vaccination can be similar to COVID-19 or flu symptoms. This is a normal sign that your body is building protection. No vaccines are 100% effective. There may be a small percentage of fully vaccinated people who still get sick from COVID-19, even after producing antibodies. However, evidence suggests that vaccination may make illness less severe.
