If I have COVID, how do I protect my child from getting sick?
Even if you have COVID-19, it’s possible to not spread it to your loved ones if you take certain precautions. For example, you and your child should wear face coverings whenever you’re in the same room together. Depending on your child’s age, you should also:
- Contact your child’s healthcare provider for advice on how to best protect your child from infection.
- See if there is a caregiver outside of the home with whom your child can stay if you’re too sick to care for your child. This caregiver should not be anyone who is at high risk of getting very sick from COVID-19.
- Avoid physical contact with older children until you’ve ended home isolation.
If your child develops symptoms, contact their healthcare provider for guidance, and follow steps for caring for someone who is sick.
See the CDC website for more details on how you can help prevent your child from getting sick.
Be sure to monitor both your symptoms and your child’s. If your child develops symptoms, contact their healthcare provider for guidance and follow steps for caring for someone who is sick.
