Will the COVID-19 vaccine protect against COVID-19 variants?

It appears that all COVID-19 vaccines, whether FDA approved or authorized for emergency use, protect against severe illness, hospitalizations, and deaths due to the Omicron and other COVID-19 variants. However, breakthrough infections still can occur in those who are vaccinated. It’s important to continue to follow public health recommendations, including vaccination, in order to protect yourself and others around you against COVID-19.
